GFSC 2009
The 2009 Geneva Forum on Social Change
Coinciding with the 450th anniversary of the University of Geneva, the Geneva Forum on Social Change presented its inaugural program on documentary film and international public affairs June 5-6 at the International Conference Center Geneva. It was a trans-Atlantic event that provided a platform for a unique discussion of the complex social, political and economic challenges presented by some of today’s leading documentary film.
The forum combined these cutting edge documentary films with workshops, panels and keynote speakers — including a featured address by Archbishop Desmond Tutu — to explore the convergence of themes presented in the films with applications for public policy and public affairs. The two-day forum engaged professionals working with international and non-governmental organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, researchers, military service and governmental members, educators, students and their families to encourage interchange, dialogue and action.
