(kis·met) Derived from the Turkish word meaning fate, fortune, or destiny.

We began with the premise that art can enrich and empower
communities in need. Kismot is a non-profit artist collective that brings together internationally acclaimed artists and musicians from the developing world committed to this belief.

Kismot lies at the center of a network of projects throughout the developing world that apply art and music to address poverty, healthcare, education, and conflict. These projects range from inspiring disadvantaged youth in Cambodia through hip-hop dance to rebuilding community identity for refugees in Colombia through sculpture.

Through collaborations with artists, Kismot produces a line of
artist-designed clothing and accessories that incorporate each
artist’s unique style and culture.  100% of profits from every Kismot item you purchase directly support projects throughout the world that use art and music to empower disadvantaged communities.

The IOMBA is a unique programme that prepares professionals for careers in the increasingly interconnected fields of international governmental and nongovernmental organizations and companies that work with these institutions.

Multilateral institutions are playing new and growing roles in addressing international economic, security, environmental, and social issues. Simultaneously, non-governmental organizations and trans-national corporations are emerging as important non-state actors. The IOMBA applies business management skills to the distinctive setting of these institutions.

The IOMBA is a multidisciplinary programme taught in English that equips students with (1) an understanding of the global socio-economic context within which international and nongovernmental organizations operate; (2) advanced management training; and (3) ongoing engagement with international and nongovernmental organizations. It brings participants together with internationally renowned scholars, top officials from international and nongovernmental organizations, and business executives, to explore the core issues facing practitioners in these various communities.

The Geneva Pop-Up Hub

During the Geneva Forum on Social Change, there will be something stirring in room 14. The Hub is a global network which provides space for game changers and social entrepreneurs to do their work among peers. Its about time Geneva had a Hub of its own, and a team has been founded for just that purpose. We’ll be setting up a 2 day pop-up hub to test the concept, and involve people like you. During the two day stint, we’ll have a workshop on tools to help model social businesses, and on what the hub is all about.

We hope you can join, participate, and help us create a radically better future.

Through promotion of agro-forestry systems in the Amazon and Central American tropical regions, we contribute to an appropriate, sustainable utilization of the endangered living spaces. The goal of Oroverde is to purchase as great as possible a quantity of fruits with a high market value from as many families as possible who have planted them in small-scale plantations in mixed cultures. In this way producer groups get market access in developed countries. Oroverde creates value added for numerous families in the producer countries, makes consumers in their countries aware of the catastrophic destruction of the rain forests and offers these rain forest fruits with an outstanding composition of ingredients.

Oroverde seeks to develop its products under the “Fairtrade” standard, which looks to support a social movement and market-based approach that helps producers in developing countries to obtain better trading conditions and promote sustainability. Certified Amazonia products carry the “Max Havelaar” quality label, which is the only one that guarantees an agreed Fairtrade premium for community projects.

Smiling Children is a non-profit organisation based in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

In order to fully meet our objectives, we develop and support school enrolment projects for girls. We also develop projects aimed at empowering women. The aim of these projects is to fight against child labour, facilitate access for girls to schools and promote the social and professional integration or reintegration of women. At present, our projects and programs are intended for girls and young women in Morocco, Afghanistan, the West Bank and Israel

We also design projects that generate employment and income in the above countries (the Olive Oil and the Women Kiosk projects in Morocco, the Olive Oil project in the West Bank, the Goat and Cow Cheese-making project in Afghanistan and the “Promoting Employment and Entrepreneurship for Women” program in Israel). Through these projects focusing on training and employment creation for women, we aim to help women reach social and financial self-reliance.

Morocco – Agricultural Production of Olive Oil
Olive trees have been grown for centuries in Morocco and are particularly adapted to the climate. The earth in Morocco is fertile for growing olive trees. Yet, agricultural production of this product is poorly or insufficiently developed.  This project falls within our goal to generate employment and income in underprivileged communities. Our aim is to encourage the production of a high quality olive oil using environmentally friendly technology and processes.
